BOSHAM
A charning and quintessentially English coastal village, Bosham (and it's Bozzum not Bosh Am) has been inhabited since Roman times and was reputed to be the site of a villa belonging to Emporer Vespasin. Legend has it that King Canute had a palace in the village and it was here that he failed to turn back the tide; the Saxon church is claimed to be the site of the grave of his daughter who drowned in the nearby mill stream. The church is also named and depicted on the on the Bayeux tapestry.
FISHBOURNE
Between Bosham and Chichester lies Fishbourne. To the South of the village are easily accessible walks through the waterside meadows and reed beds of Chichester Harbour. To the North are the remains of Fishbourne Palace, one of the most important archaeological sites in the country - well worth a visit.
CHICHESTER HARBOUR
Bosham is one of the villages that line Chichester Harbour - and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty as well as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. It is one of the most poular sites for sailing in the country with 14 sailing clubs based around the harbour supporting more than 12,000 craft. The harbour is also popular with bird watchers with the mudflats attracting myriad waders. The network of footpaths and cycle tracks that skirt the harbour make it a wonderful place to visit.
CHICHESTER
Only two miles down the road, beautiful and historic Chichester is well worth a visit: enjoy the Cathedral and peaceful Bishop's garden at the centre of the city , followed by afternoon tea at one of the many local Cafés and then wander around the pedestrianised central shopping area with a great mix of independent boutiques and better known High Street stores all within a well preserved Roman wall.
The Chichester Festival Theatre is home and launch pad to some of the UK’s most critically acclaimed plays and musicals now re-opened following closure during the summer.
There is a regular bus service in to Chichester from directly outside the Bosham Boathouse.

THE GOODWOOD ESTATE
Racing is at the heart of Goodwood - whether equine at Glorious Goodwood or motorised at the Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival. You can also learn to fly or take a helicopter tour from the aerodrome or play a round of golf..and it is all only a short drive from the Bosham Boathouse.
PORTSMOUTH
Historical home and hub of the British Navy for hundreds of years, today it is still very much a working naval port including the base for the brand new Queen Elizabeth aircraft carrier. Take a trip to the Historic Dockyard and walk your way through Britain’s maritime history including the iconic Mary Rose and HMS Victory.
The shops, bars, cinema and restaurants of Gunwharf Quays provide plenty of opportunity to eat, shop and enjoy your visit to Portsmouth and the Spinnaker Tower gives you uninterrupted views across the region or you can abseil down the side of it!

EMSWORTH
The beautiful coastal village of Emsworth was once a major hub of the UK’s oyster industry. Visit some of the local Cafés and amble around the antique and vintage stores.

THE WITTERINGS
Enjoy a swim, beach picnic or walk on the perfect sandy beaches and dunes at West Wittering or pop into the village of East Wittering for a spot of shopping or walk along the pebble shoreline and enjoy the views out across the Solent to the Isle of Wight.

SOUTH DOWNS NATIONAL PARK
The South Downs National Park has it all – rolling hills, glorious heathland, river valleys, ancient woodland, thriving villages, market towns and it is all just a short drive from us in Bosham.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT
We are lucky to have fantastic public transport connections at The Bosham Boathouse. There are two services from the bus stop right outside. The 700 will take you into Chichester to the East or as far as Portsmouth to the west. The 56 runs between Chichester and Bosham Old Town. Live bus times as well as ticket sales can be found on the Stagecoach App.
Bosham Station is a 15 minute walk with regular trains to Chichester and on to Brighton or London.
The N2 National Cycle Route runs right past the front door.
